DeCEMBER 22 – JUNE 19
It symbolizes wisdom and the waters by the primordial god of the Sumerians: Enki; its symbol represents the mountain, it belongs together with Taurus and Virgo to the earth element.4 Its opposite and complementary sign is Cancer.
It is the Roman writer and general Germanicus who in the first century AD. C., making a free translation of Arato’s Phainomena, associates Capricorn not with Pan but with a hybrid creature of a goat with a fish tail called Aegipán, Jupiter’s milk brother. Aegipán discovered a musical instrument —the conch shell— that he used in the fight of the gods against the giants, frightening them. As a reward, Zeus placed it among the stars as the constellation Capricorn. Germanicus also associated the sign with the Emperor Augustus.
